This guide book, “Language Teaching Approaches and Methodologies” has been
developed based on the curriculum of the subject Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages.
The program is designed with reference to the experience of top universities, including Michigan
State University, which is ranked among the top 300 universities in internationally recognized
rankings.
Within the framework of this course, students study advanced foreign teaching practices
and explore ways of integrating them into the national education system. Special attention is
given to the effective use of information and communication technologies and artificial
intelligence in the teaching process, as well as to developing creative skills in a digital learning
environment.
The course ultimately aims to combine theoretical knowledge with practical teaching
skills, preparing future educators for modern language teaching contexts.
Nowadays, although there are views that modern approaches in language teaching rely
more on the post-method paradigm than on traditional methods, new pedagogical models and
teaching concepts continue to be proposed. These include teaching with integrated content and
language (CLIL), text- and task-based approaches, as well as the Common European Framework
of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which increasingly play an important role in language
education practice. At the same time, knowledge of traditional approaches and methods, which
have developed throughout the history of language teaching, remains an integral part of the
professional competence required of a modern language teacher.
